Agadir and the coast

The final birding segment of the tour was down at the coast, in the vicinity of Agadir.

We explored a couple of wetland sites (Oued Massa and Oued Souss) - not enough time, as usual, but still lots of goodies - Wild Boar, Red-eared Terrapin, Black-crowned Tchagra, Moussier's Redstart and so on).

But our main target was to be sought at the town of Tamri, about an hour north of Agadir. Here, on the sandy hillsides, we spent a whole morning searching. Nothing - well, just Spectacled Warbler and lots of other bits and bobs! Then an hour or two at the estuary - still nothing (apart from Zitting Cisticola, baby toads by the bucketful, Audouin's and Mediterranean Gulls). Oh dear - were we going to dip?

NO! A shout from Nick, and distant views of a small flock of NORTHERN BALD IBIS were had by all. Yes! A quick burn round to the next headland, and we were able to approach them to within about 20 metres as they fed quietly - everyone was elated, and had great views of this Critically Endangered species. Mission accomplished!

And from there, back to Marrakech, and onwards home.

An awesme adventure, thoroughly enjoyed by all, don and boy alike.
